My time with the Record Journal was the start of my professional career. Prior to this internship, my only experience was in the form of student media. While this position was only one day per week, it allowed me to work with professionals and learn about the day-to-day life of a journalist.

Each week when I drove up to Meriden from Hamden, I knew I would be writing a story that would be featured online and in the newspaper the following day. Most of my time was spent in the newsroom making calls for my stories, but I was also sent into the field to get photos and talk to locals for certain stories.

It wasn’t much, but this is where I got my start – and I take pride in that.

WALLINGFORD — A town native and New England Patriots employee will work his fourth Super Bowl in seven years on Sunday when the team faces the Philadelphia Eagles.

“It’s a pretty cool opportunity,” Patriots’ digital content assistant manager Mike Hacku said. “I’m kind of spoiled, but it never gets old. It’s a long week, a lot of work, but it’s worth it.”

Kickoff for the game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. The Patriots are vying for their sixth title in team history and third in four years, while the Eagles are seeking their first Super Bowl victory.

Hacku’s main responsibilities include creating unique content for the team’s website, putting together photo galleries, and posting highlights to the team’s website and social media during games.
