My time with the Record Journal was the start of my professional career. Prior to this internship, my only experience was in the form of student media. While this position was only one day per week, it allowed me to work with professionals and learn about the day-to-day life of a journalist.

Each week when I drove up to Meriden from Hamden, I knew I would be writing a story that would be featured online and in the newspaper the following day. Most of my time was spent in the newsroom making calls for my stories, but I was also sent into the field to get photos and talk to locals for certain stories.

It wasn’t much, but this is where I got my start – and I take pride in that.

After going weeks without a storm, between 6 and 10 inches of snow is forecast for this weekend.

The snow will begin to fall around 4 to 5 p.m. Saturday and will continue until about 7 a.m. Sunday.

“We’re describing this as a moderate snowstorm,” said Gary Lessor, a meteorologist with the Weather Center at Western Connecticut State University. “Moderate storms are usually between 3 and 7 inches, but we’re leaning on the higher side of that in the Meriden and Wallingford area.”
